We are pleased to tell you that The Dixie Grammar School community will soon have access to a range of fantastic online databases through our subsciption to Leicestershire Library Services for Education.

They are:

  • Credo Reference
  • Guardian and Observer Digital Archive
  • History Study Center
  • Science Reference Center

Mrs Robinson is sorting out access and then she will begin to demonstrate these services to staff, students and any other interested member of our community.

For the first time, students at The Dixie Grammar School are joining in the CILIP Carnegie Medal Shadowing Scheme. We have had our first meeting and 14 students from Years 8 and 9 have signed up!

There are 8 books on the shortlist:

  1. Chains by Laurie Halse Anderson
  2. The Graveyard Book by Nail Gaiman
  3. The Vanishing of Katharina Linden by Helen Grant
  4. Rowan the Strange by Julie Hearn
  5. The Ask and the Answer by Patrick Ness
  6. Nation by Terry Pratchett
  7. Fever Crumb by Philip Reeve
  8. Revolver by Marcus Sedgwick

The group will be meeting in the Library on Friday lunchtimes every week – we hope to have a lot of fun and great discussions as we read the books!

If you are a Shadower, then click here to access the official website and post a review.

  1. Click on “Post a Review”
  2. Enter “Dixie” in the search box and you will then be able to select “The Dixie Grammar School”.
  3. Write your review and click on “Send”.
  4. Mrs Robinson will then check your review and enable it to be uploaded to our site.
