Are you a book lover? Then have a look at this wonderful video – just don’t expect us to re-create it in our libraries!

This week, we are going to introduce our Year 7 and 8 classes to our reading development wiki called Reading is Fun! We hope that students will use this to track their reading development during this year. They are asked to write a page about their favourite books and magazines using images and embedded videos to enliven the page. Students are also encouraged to comment on each other’s pages with positive ideas and support.
There is a full page with embedded presentations on this site and Mrs Robinson has also put these on this post.
If you are a Dixie student in Year 7 or 8, have a look at the presentation below to remind you how to use the wiki. Please ask Mrs Robinson if you need your username and password.

The CILIP Carnegie Medal and the CILIP Greenaway Medal are very famous awards for children’s books. The nominations for 2012 have been announced today. These are all fantastic books – please let Mrs Robinson know if you would like to read any of them and she will buy them for either library.
Good news for our Year 7 students – the Booked Up books have arrived already. Mrs Robinson will sort them out next week and give them to you as soon as possible.

This week, our Year 7 students will have the opportunity to choose a free book from the Booked Up scheme.
Have a look at the website to see more details:
The book choices are great!

There is also a film you can watch – we will be looking at this during Year 7 English visits to the Library this week.
Our two copies of Mockingjay arrived yesterday! Mrs Robinson read the book last night – it was so good that she couldn’t put it down and read into the early hours of the morning – fantastic!

We just can’t wait for this book! Mrs Robinson has pre-ordered two copies which will be waiting for the first two students to ask for them! Mind you, she is going to read it first.
