  • What is their full name?
  • When did they die?
  • Did they have other jobs as well?
  • When and why did they become an Artist?
  • What sort of background/family life did they have?
  • What country did they live in?
  • When were they born?
  • Were they married?
  • Did they have children?
  • Where were they trained?

Links with your Project

  • Why did you choose this Artist?
  • How have they influenced your work?
  • How is their work similar to your project?

Paintings and Style

  • How did the Artist use colour?
  • What materials did they use?
  • Were they trained or self-taught?
  • Where and how did they get the images for their paintings?
  • Where did they exhibit their work?
  • What are the distinctive features of their style?
  • Which Art Movement best describes the Artist’s work?
  • Which techniques did they use?
  • Describe the Artist’s style
  • Where did they get their inspiration from?
  • What were they intersted in painting?
  • Who were their contemporaries? What did the Artist admire about their style?
  • Name some of their famous paintings. What is happening in them?

Don’t forget to use a Research Planner to help you organise your thoughts. Also, please note down your sources of information for your bibliography. Ask the Librarian for help with this if you need to.

    Yeah, thank’s allot for this. I’ve been wondering what to research about the artist Otto Dix and I had no clue since i forgot what my teacher told me to research!
