Anne Robinson meets Anne Robinson

Mrs Robinson has been a school librarian for many years, first in three schools in Nottinghamshire then, from 1999 to 2008, at a school in Warwickshire.  In 2005, she was appointed as Federation Learning and Information Resources Team Leader to manage the two LRCs in the Bedworth Federation of Schools. Mrs Robinson joined The Dixie Grammar School in September 2008 as the first professional Librarian. She loves working with students, developing reading for pleasure and information literacy.

Mrs Robinson has written for the TES, contributed to several professional publications and the School Libraries Group magazine SLiV, has led INSET sessions around the country, spoken at conferences and was involved in filming two programmes on school libraries for the Teachers’ TV channel – see here and here. Her work has been assessed as outstanding by HMI and she has been asked to present examples of best practice at two OfSTED dissemination conferences.

Regular visits to libraries as a child encouraged her passion for reading and education. She says:

“School librarianship is a fantastic career at the heart of learning. We should be working in this country to give every child access to high quality libraries and talented librarians!”

Mrs Robinson was awarded the School Library Association’s very first School Librarian of the Year Award in May 2005.
